Replacing the Topcase might sound simpler than changing the keyboard and sometimes it is necessary due to scratches or dents in the aluminum. Don’t underestimate the work however. It is doable, you need to disassemble the whole MacBook though. With patience and a bit of preparation this is rewarding task.
