The keyboard can be swapped out with some time, but it’s not for beginners.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro (2022) features a redesigned keyboard that includes a return to the scissor mechanism design. This is a change from the butterfly mechanism keyboard that was used in previous models, which received criticism for its lack of key travel and reliability issues.
The scissor mechanism keyboard uses a different mechanism underneath each key to provide more stability and key travel when typing. This design allows for a more traditional typing experience and can help prevent typing errors. The keys on the scissor mechanism keyboard are also slightly larger than those on the butterfly mechanism keyboard, which can make typing more comfortable.
This redesign of the keyboard is part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience and address feedback from customers. It is a welcome change for many users who had experienced issues with the butterfly mechanism keyboard.
